The citys name is probably derived from Mayaimi, an Indian word for big water. Miami is one of the worlds leading year-round resort centers with tourism contributing over 60% of the areas economy. The city is a major transportation hub and the port of Miami is the worlds largest cruise port and a major seaport for cargo. Joe Robbie Stadium in the northern suburbs is the home of the city's NFL team, the Miami Dolphins, and major league baseball's Florida Marlins. The Orange bowl is home to the Univ. of Miamis' football team and is the site of a traditional New Years festival and college football game.
